Basketball betting lines
In basketball betting, bets on individual players are fairly rare, especially when it comes to NBA-level tournaments. However, Stawki.bet opens additional markets for them.
Other types of basketball bets are listed below:
- Prediction on the result of each individual quarter.
- Assists and rebounds stats.
- Free throw conversion.
- Two- and three-point shots.
- Bets on statistics.
- Head-to-head between teammates.
Types of basketball bets: margin, handicap and double result
Margin bets let you predict not just the winner but the exact final scoreline of the match. Unlike classic fixed-odds options, where the choice comes down to just two outcomes, margin bets cover a much wider range of possible scenarios.
The main purpose of such markets is to level the odds and create a lively market where the odds between opponents differ noticeably. For example, when one team traditionally dominates its opponent, it is considered the favourite, but its odds are rather modest. This is where spread bets come in handy.
Bookmakers set a spread for a specific match to encourage the audience to back the favourite. The catch is that this spread differs only slightly from the underdog's handicap. In other words, the favourite still has a strong chance of winning, but the real question is whether its margin will exceed the set line or not — and that is exactly what players try to predict.
The bookmaker accepts bets on both sides of the spread and makes a profit thanks to the built-in commission (vigorish), so the final score does not matter to it. Earnings come from the money staked, and the more participants join the market, the greater the income.
Handicap betting in basketball
Many bettors prefer markets such as the outright result and the handicap. The reason is simple: these options are easier to grasp, and it is easier to assess the probability of a team's win or its success adjusted for the handicap. Below we explain what a basketball handicap is and suggest when it makes sense to back the favourite and when the underdog.
A handicap in basketball is a notional point difference added to a team's actual final score. A notation like H1 (+12) should be read as follows: the first team may lose, but by no more than 12 points.
The size of the handicap is set by the bookmaker's analysts based on the expected course of the match. A handicap can be bought or sold until the required value is reached. The increment by which the handicap changes depends on the odds and the adjustments made by the specialists.
Double results in basketball betting
Players can bet on double results: points scored, rebounds, assists, blocks and successful free throws by a single player. The tie rule also applies to these bets.
For a bet to be valid, the player must be listed and actually appear on the court. Unless otherwise stated in the terms, points scored in overtime also count.
Double-doubles of different players can be compared with each other to determine winning options. Handicaps may also be applied when settling the outcome based on the player's actual statistics.
The following conditions apply to "double-double" and "triple-double" bets:
- "Double-double" is credited when a player records at least 10 in two of the five categories: points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals.
- "Triple-double" requires double figures in at least three of the five categories: points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals.
Draws in basketball betting
Draw bets deserve special attention. Matches that did not take place or were postponed are declared void. The bet remains valid only if the match is rescheduled within 36 hours of the planned start.
If a game has started but ended early, all bets are void except those whose outcome had already been determined. For example, if a match is stopped 5 minutes before the buzzer with the score at 104-100, bets on total over 203.5 points will be settled as winners.
Overtime counts for all markets, except where specifically stated otherwise in the terms. Please also note the following:
- Triplex and double chance do not take extra time into account.
- Bets on player statistics are valid only if the player takes part in the game. Their stats include overtime.
- The draw rule applies to double chance bets.
- For a two-leg tie (home and away) with aggregate scoring, the result is calculated on regular time without overtime (except when both matches end in a draw).
- Match bets and special markets.
For bets to stand, all matches must start at the scheduled time (local time). If the venue changes, bets remain valid provided the home team does not lose its status. If both teams play at a neutral venue, bets also remain valid as long as the home side retains its status. In all other cases, all bets are void.

Basketball is one of the most popular sports on the planet and shines especially bright in the world of betting. In the USA, the best-known competition is deservedly NBA — the National Basketball Association. The league earned its fame thanks to professional clubs, star players and intense rivalries that keep millions of fans and bettors around the world glued to the action. Basketball betting predictions
Before making a basketball prediction, find out the team's current position in the standings, as it is a rough indicator of its strength. Taking this factor into account in advance noticeably reduces the risk of losing.
Other data worth analysing:
- Head-to-head history of the opponents.
- Average scoring figures.
- Results of the last ten matches.
- Home and away win percentage.
It is equally important to consider injuries or suspensions of individual players, the overall fatigue level of a player or the whole team, off-field conflicts within the club and the personal ambitions of its leaders.
Note: experienced bettors always take the coach into account. The chances of success increase when the team is led by a respected specialist with numerous trophies and recognition in the basketball world.
The sum of points scored by both teams in a quarter, half or the whole game is called the total and can be odd or even. The "win-win" approach lets you focus not on the odds when choosing an event but on the results of previous meetings. Remember that betting is available to adults only (18+).
